Senapati, August 24 2018:
The next round of 'tripartite talks' on the district creation issue will be held on September 1, 2018 between the Central Government, the United Naga Council (UNC) and the Government of Manipur.
The talk will be held at Senapati from 11 am onwards.
"We have been waiting a final word from the Government whether they can really revoke the decision that created the new districts," Gaidon Kamei, president of the UNC informed Newmai News Network tonight.
He also said that the BJP led Government of Manipur is mute about what the Congress Government led by Ibobi Singh had done.
"It appears whether it is the BJP Government or the Congress Government, they are against the interests of the Nagas, they all are one," the UNC president said.
Gaidon Kamei asserted that the Naga people will take their own course of measures depending on the outcome of the September 1 'tripartite talks'.
The UNC president also said that the Nagas were made to "wait this long" by the Government.
"Our patience has run out now," stated the UNC president.
"The Government has been giving us many promises and assurances on the district creation issue but for how long should the Naga people wait?" asked Gaidon Kamei.
The last round of 'tripartite talks' was held on May 19, 2018.In that talk it was decided that the next round of talk would be held on July 28.However, that talk was postponed due to some "exigencies" of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India.
It is also worth mentioning here that in all the talks, the Ministry ofHome Affairs (MHA) has been chairing.
It can be recalled here that, the Government of Manipur had admitted during the first tripartite talks on March 19, 2017, that "the grievances of the United Naga Council which led to the imposition of the economic blockade was recognized as there was non-adherence to the four Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the Government of India's assurance on the matter." It can also be noted here that the UNC has been demanding the Manipur Government to roll back the district creation decision of December 8, 2016 .
