JCILPS appeals for cooperation, transparency in verification drive

Jiribam, January 29 2018:
The Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) conducted a joint meeting at PWD Guest House, Babupara, Jiribam, today in presence of the local MLA, CSOs and different communities leaders deliberating on the recent issue of verification drive at Jiribam.
During the meeting, the convenor of JCILPS Manipur, Arjun Telheiba, said that the ongoing verification drive at Jiribam district is to protect the indigenous people of the State as well as to put a check on the rapid influx of non Manipuris in the State.
He appealed to all to cooperate and extend maximum support in the drive considering the future and safety of the indigenous people of the State and further urged for transparency during the verification process.
The local MLA of Jiribam district, said that detection of foreigners and illegal migrants is crucial as unchecked influx of illegal migrants will impact the already minimal source of income of Jiribam locals.
Maintaining his speech, the MLA assured that he will force any illegal foreigners to return to their native place if detected.
Stressing on the urgency and importance of mass verification drive, the co-convenor of JCILPS HQ, Md Kheir Uddin Shah, stated that the drive will be able to identify the natives and women of the district who have married or shifted to other places, person who are deceased as well as detect forged documents etc.
The meeting resolved to support the mass verification drive and appealed for support from all communities, CSOs, NGOs and the people to ensure success of the drive in the interest of the State.
It was further decided that, any dispute which arise during the verification drive will be resolved in an amicable way with the consent of local leaders, CSOs, NGOS and local club members.
