Kangpokpi, March 23 2017:
Talk between civil society organizations of Kangpokpi district led by Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills and Assam Rifles official today could not bring amicable solution over the alleged brutal assault of two youths, reports our correspondent.
The talk between the CSOs and AR official was held this afternoon at KSO administrative office building, Kangpokpi district HQs.
The CSOs said that they had asked the AR official to seek apology according to Kuki customary law before Kuki Inpi while bearing the medical expense of the two victims and give Rs 1 lakh each to the duo as compensation to which the AR official refused.
The CSOs further said that the AR official in the meeting admitted to have committed the act but was not willing to disclosed under whose command and instruction the act was carried out.
The AR official has alleged the duo of having a link with KNF.
"Since the talk could not bring any solution, we had given a one more day to the Assam Rifles to reconsider their stance.
We will hold another talk on March 25," the CSOs said.
All the business establishments in Kangpokpi district HQs and other parts of the district including Sapormeina, Motbung and Keithelmanbi were shut down during the talk which lasted for almost 2 hours.
Meanwhile, irritated womenfolk decided to continue closing the business establishments in the entire district and threatened to impose indefinite bandh along the National Highway from tomorrow.
Womenfolk led by their leaders also visited the two victims this afternoon at CHC Kangpokpi.
