Imphal, July 20 2013 :
Successful candidates of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)-2013 along with their parents stormed at Chief Minister's Bungalow today demanding to conduct counselling.
However, they were blocked by police near Imphal Post Office.
Later, they staged a sit-in-protest at Keishampat Yumjao Lairembi Shanglen.
A representative of the parents' body told media persons that they went to meet Chief Minister at his Bungalow, but he was not present at that time.
The Association had also submitted a memorandum to the Governor.
Secretary of Parents' Association of Selected Candidates (NEET-UG-2013) Y Tomba said that the Supreme Court clearly mentioned that the admission of those candidates already done or in the process would not be affected by the quash order.
So, the pending process of counselling of successful candidates in NEET should be completed by the authorities concerned as soon as possible, he noted.
He further said that the Cabinet Meeting on State PMT has again created anxiety among the successful candidates.
The Government should not do anything that would dishearten the candidates and cause untoward incidents.

Tomba also pointed out that Assam, Uttarkhand and Orissa have already begun counselling for NEET successful candidates and counselling process is also underway in Delhi.
The Association would launch intense agitations if the State Government does not conduct counselling for NEET successful candidates at the earliest.
On the other hand, a group of NEET qualified candidates today staged protest against the Cabinet meeting held to discuss possible rescheduling of MBBS/BDS entrance test.
Holding placards and shouting slogans, the NEET qualified candidates marched towards the Chief Minister's Secretariat but they were stopped by security personnel near T.G Higher secondary school gate.
Talking to media, a spokesperson of the group expressed strong reservation against any move to re-conduct the Manipur MBBS/BDS entrance test, 2013 after it had been cancelled following a State Cabinet decision which favour selection of the State nominees based on the scoring in NEET.
The spokesperson pointed out that they have already submitted their forms for admission and are waiting for the counseling.
The spokesperson asserted that reconduct of the examination would be in violation of Clause 163 of the Supreme Court verdict, wherein it was stated clearly, "This will not, however, invalidate actions so far taken under the amended Regulations, including the admissions already given on the basis of the NEET conducted by the Medical Council of India, the Dental Council of India and other private institutions, and the same shall be valid for all purposes" .
