Kakching, July 05 2023:
The Kakching Keithel Apunba Ima Lup (KKAIL) has condemned Chief Minister N Biren Singh's remark in an interview with NDTV allegedly citing the burning of effigies at Kakching and Thoubal as one of reasons for his decision to tender his resignation.
A statement issued by Ushakiran Devi, secretary, Kakching Keithel Apunba Ima Lup has clarified that the effigies were burnt in a display of democratic protest as the Government failed to contain the violence even as the State burned and innocent people lost their lives, their homes and their livelihoods for more than two months.
Even now, the people will welcome the Chief Minister with garlands if he takes up concrete steps that will restore peace in Manipur, KKAIL maintained.
The statement further urged the Chief Minister to make his own decisions instead of acting in a way that looks like assigning blame on other elements.
KKAIL also highlighted the people's dissatisfaction with the Chief Minister for not personally visiting and enquiring after the 4300 displaced persons seeking shelter across 39 relief camps in Kakching district as well as not taking stock of the affected areas in Sugnu and Serou which came under heavy attack by Kuki militants.
KKAIL urged the Chief Minister to not let down the people and lose their faith.
