RSS draws up list of services to aid affected people

To help rehabilitate victims of the ongoing communal crisis and lend a hand in restoration of peace and normalcy, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is set to launch an array of programmes in the State.
RSS Imphal Jilla conducted a meeting today in this regard, said a statement issued by RSS.
During the meeting the organisation expressed solidarity to all affected by the violence and paid homage to those who were killed during the incidents related to the clash.
As a part of its continuous relief activities since the outbreak of the crisis, the organisation has resolved to undertake a five-subject work programme, it said.
As part of the proposed programme, RSS workers/volunteers will encourage indoor and outdoor games to children and aged persons sheltering at 5 relief camps located in Imphal East and Imphal West, it said.
The organisation also resolved to ensure the inmates livelihood oriented skill development programme in association with Central Agricultural University, Imphal; Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (ISBD), Imphal; Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Imphal; Humanism Foundation and other prospective line departments and organisations.
Thirdly, the organisation resolved to provide free education to affected students reading in Class I to X at Bal Vidya Mandir by consulting with the Shiksha Vikash Samiti.
It was agreed that the students receive free coaching classes.
On medical needs, the organisation resolved to prepare a database of volunteers who wish to donate blood whenever required.
To help facilitate emergency transportation of injured persons in Imphal East and Imphal West round the clock, free ambulance service was also introduced today, it said.
Lastly, the organisation unanimously agreed to intensify social and mental health counselling to affected people of both the valley and the hill while appealing NGOs and bodies concerned to aid in its ventures.
Mention may be made that, RSS workers and volunteers including those who were participating at RSS organised camps at Rajashri Bhagyachandra Skill Development Centre (RBSDC)-Haraorou and Mangolnganbi College swung into action and aided victims of both the communities with cash and kind when the communal crisis broke out all of a sudden.
Apart from helping rescue more than 1000 stranded persons, the organisation has been actively engaged in studying the root cause of the issue since the very early part of the crisis, it said.
Moreover, the organisation has been running a relief camp at RBSDC since June 17 with assistance of the State Government and Seva Bharati, Nagamapal, it said.
Keeping in view the possible food crisis in the State due to prolonged unrest and security issues in the peripheral areas, the organisation also drew the attention of the State Government and department concerned to provide possible assistance to the farmers to avoid food crisis.
Any individual, club/NGO and associations may reach out to Thoudam Sureshkumar (9366084157) and Thokchom Gunajit (7005152118) in case they wanted to assist and join hands with the departments of RSS in relief and rehabilitation works being undertaken by the organisation, it urged.
The communal crisis has brought widespread destruction, loss of more than 100 lives and left more than 50,000 homeless and more destruction are impending if not ended soon, noted RSS while reiterating its appeal to all sections of the society to work towards restoration of peace and normalcy at the earliest.
