Imphal, July 05 2023:
Sagolband AC MLA, RK Imo has sought the attention of the Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya Scindia to initiate necessary action in connection with the designation of ATO Office address as 'Lamka' instead of Imphal amidst the State's volatile situation.
In a letter addressed to the Union Civil Aviation Minister, RK Imo said he came to learn through social media that few Air India tickets have mentioned the ATO (Air Ticketing Office) of Imphal as Air India, ATO Imphal Airport, Lamka.
It is totally unacceptable on the part of Air India to have made the gross error in altering the name from Imphal to Lamka in the official ticket, he said.
The Ministry must be aware of the fact that there is only one airport in the State at Imphal and thus there can be no error of judgement, he said.
The MLA then requested the Union Minister to look into the matter seriously and ensure that the original address of the ATO stands corrected in the tickets of Air India and such acts are not repeated in future.
He further requested the Union Minister to investigate and take appropriate action against the officials of Air India and any other officials involved in making such alterations by initiating a time bound enquiry.
RK Imo also urged adequate punishment be given to those involved so that the issue is never repeated.
