Imphal, September 02 2015:
MLA K Ranjit has clarified that it was slip of tongue when he said there was no Nagas in Manipur in the State Assembly on August 31 .
Speaking to media persons at his Babupara official residence this evening, K Ranjit clarified that what he meant was "there were no Nagas of Nagaland in Manipur" .
Regretting about what he uttered in the State Assembly, Ranjit appealed to all concerned not to perceive him in wrong light.
While welcoming the peace accord signed between the Government of India and NSCN-IM, the Manipur Legislative Assembly reaffirmed its earlier resolution that no peace accord should impinge upon the territorial and administrative integrity of Manipur.
Moreover, the MLA's statement was omitted from the Assembly proceedings.
Pointing out that the Assembly had adopted resolu- tions to safeguard the territorial and administrative inte- grity of Manipur six times, Ranjit asserted that Zeliangrongs, Tangkhuls, Maos, Marams, Paomais, Anals, Marings and many other ethnic groups have been living together in Manipur since ages.
