Senapati steps up TB elimination drive, strengthens district-level coordination

The Senapati district administration has intensified implementation of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (TBMBA), with a focus on coordinated efforts, high-risk screening, early diagnosis and sustained support for tuberculosis patients.
A meeting of the District-Level TB Mukt Bharat Committee and heads of various offices and departments was held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Senapati, on Wednesday.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S District Tuberculosis Officer Dr L Muanching briefed the participants on the prevailing TB situation in the district and the activities being undertaken towards TB elimination.

She urged all departments to strengthen inter-departmental convergence, high-risk screening, community participation, patient support and regular monitoring.
She also encouraged officers to enrol as Nikshay Mitras and adopt at least one TB patient for a minimum of six months by providing nutritional or other permissible support in accordance with government guidelines.
The District-Level TB Mukt Bharat Committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner to ensure effective coordination, implementation and monitoring of TB elimination activities.
The Chief Medical Officer is the Co-Convenor, while the District Tuberculosis Officer is the Convenor.
Representatives from DRDA, MY Bharat, Education, Labour and NCC are members of the committee.
All Sub-Divisional Officers and Block Development Officers in the district have been designated as Special Nodal Officers for their respective areas.
They will coordinate and monitor TB elimination activities and facilitate community mobilisation towards achieving TB Mukt Block/Ward status.
The Special Nodal Officers have been directed to prepare monthly microplans and weekly activity schedules and hold regular review meetings with TB Mukt Bharat Teams, Block Medical Officers, Medical Officers, ANMs, ASHAs, Anganwadi Workers and village representatives.
The meeting also laid emphasis on high-risk screening and early diagnosis.
The SDOs were directed to coordinate with Block Medical Officers to ensure 100 per cent X-ray screening of high-risk populations above 14 years of age and upfront NAAT testing for symptomatic persons or those with abnormal X-ray findings.
Mapping of high-risk villages and wards on the Nikshay portal has also been prioritised.
The Chief Medical Officer and District Tuberculosis Officer will provide technical and programme-related support to the Special Nodal Officers for awareness, screening, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up activities.
The initiative aims to bring TB elimination efforts closer to communities through the active participation of youth, local institutions, frontline workers and government departments, while ensuring early detection, timely treatment, treatment adherence and sustained nutritional and social support for patients.
Reiterating the district administration's commitment to the campaign, the Deputy Commissioner called for collective action, convergence and sustained field-level interventions to accelerate TB elimination and achieve the goal of making Senapati a TB-free district.
