73rd death anniversary of Hijam Irawat observed at Jiribam, Tripura

As conducted every year, Jana Neta Irawat Memorial Trust (JIMET) Jiribam observed the 73rd death anniversary of Hijam Irawat at Irawat Complex, Babupara in Jiribam district this morning with the offering of floral tribute.
At 8 AM today, the JIMET team led by Dr Chandam Kamal Singh, lifetime president, JIMET paid homage to the revolutionary leader's monument inside the Complex.
The event was graced by representatives of various CSOs, social workers and community leaders of Jiribam.
On the occasion, A Manmohan Singh, chairman, JIMET Celebration Committee shared that the death anniversary ceremony has been muted this year due to the ongoing turmoil in the State.
Hence, the event has been limited to offering of flowers and other oblations.
He further urged people to participate in the upcoming birth anniversary celebration of Lamyanba Hijam Irawat on September 30 .
M Romeo, convenor, JIMET Celebration Committee was also present on the occasion.
Separately, the Patriotic Writers Forum (PAWF) Manipur and Tripura also observed the 73rd death anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irawat at the Sahitya Akademi Hall, Nazrul Kalakshetra Complex, Tripura today.
On the occasion, the prestigious Lamyanba Hijam Irawat Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award 2024 was bestowed on RK Tarunjit Singh, joint editor, Marup (daily) and Dr Kshetrimayum Madhabi, secretary, Lamyanba Sangstha, Tripura, as per a statement issued by Rakesh Naorem, secretary, PAWF Manipur.
The award comes with a traditional "lyong Phi", recognition certificate, memento and Rs 5000 in cash.
The award was sponsored by Laimujam Pratap Singh, assistant secretary, PAWF Manipur in memory of his daughter L Nanaotombi.
The event was graced by Dr Yaiskul Khwairakpam, former president PAWF Manipur; Langoljam Biramangal Singh, president, Manipuri Sahitya Pari shad Tripura and Naoroibam Khamba Luwang, president, PAWF Manipur and Gurumayum Biplab Sharma, president, PAWF Tripura as presidium members.
Social worker Rakesh Naorem; journalist, writer and filmmaker OC Meira and Khoisnam Ongbi Birola, Member, Manipuri Language Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi delivered lectures on the occasion.
