Interaction programme on procedure for booking railway wagons held

Imphal, August 19 2023: Transport Department, Government of Manipur, in association with NF Railway today organised a interaction programme on the topic, "Procedures for Booking of Railway Wagons for carrying Goods up to Khongsang Noney, Manipur" at Classic Grande in Chingmeirong.

It was attended by Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur, Dr Vineet Joshi; Sr DCM Lumding, Kapinjal Kishore Sharma and Michael Achom, Secretary, Transport Department among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vineet Joshi, said following the announcement made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his visit to Manipur in the last week of May, that the Khongsang railway station in Noney would be made operational to ferry essential goods to the State, the first good trains carrying essential commodities reached the Khongsang Railway Station on July 24, 2023 .

He shared that the transportation of essential commodities through the Northeast Frontier Railways was possible through the support of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Railway Ministry.

He continued that the people, Department concerned and the Deputy Commissioner for their cooperation and support in bringing railway service to Manipur.

Dr Vineet Joshi further expressed hope that the interaction programme will help entrepreneurs of the State clear all doubts and queries about the way/ procedure to book railway wagons for carrying goods.
