Khuraijam Loken inspects RLI schemes in Wangoi AC

Imphal, July 13 2023: Wangoi AC MLA, Khuraijam Loken today conducted an inspection tour to find out whether the River Lift Irrigation (RLI) Schemes constructed in his constituency are functioning properly or not.

Speaking to media persons after the inspection, Kh Loken shared that steps have been taken to ensure proper functioning of the RLI schemes and supply adequate water to the vast paddy fields in Wangoi AC.

He mentioned that if necessary, mini dams will be constructed to meet the requirement and demand of water in the paddy fields.

He continued that preparations have also been made to pump water from Imphal river, Nambul river and other rivers flowing through Wangoi AC to supply water to the paddy fields which do not have adequate water for agricultural activities.

The MLA assured to coordinate with the officials of Department concerned to make all the RLI schemes in Wangoi AC functional and provide all the necessary water pumps and fuel to the farmers.

Highlighting that the shortage of rain and present unrest in the State have left the farmers in a difficult situation, he said, "The Government should take some urgent measures on war footing to ensure agricultural activities are not disrupted to prevent food crisis in the State" .

Stating sufficient urea fertilizers will be provided to the farmers, Kh Loken further appealed to all the farmers of Wangoi AC to work hard to produce a good harvest this year.
