Sigma Voice Youth Conclave 2024 begins

The inaugural Sigma Voice Youth Conclave 2024, organised by the Sigma Voice Club in collaboration with the prestigious North East Writers' Forum, commenced today at Assam Royal Global University.
The two-day event aims to engage young minds through discussions on topics relevant to the Northeast and beyond, said a release issued by North East Writers' Forum.
The first day featured a panel discussion titled "Diversity and Inclusion: Northeast Writing in English," bringing together prominent figures from the literary and cultural fields.
The event began with a welcome address by the Deputy Dean and advisor of Sigma Voice Club, who emphasised the club's mission to nurture students' skills in a creative and growth-oriented environment.
The panel included renowned personalities such as Rashmi Narzary, Madhu Raghavendra, Aboli Wotsa, Dr Subi Taba and Nilotpal Gohain.
The session was moderated by Dr Pronami Bhattacharya, Assistant Professor, English Department.
Each panelist was presented with a token of appreciation and greeted with warm hospitality.
Rashmi Narzary highlighted the significance of folklore and folktales in preserving the cultural heritage of the Northeast, while Nilotpal Gohain urged students to write about the region's untold stories, emphasising the importance of representation in English literature.
The panelists shared their personal experiences, challenges, and insights, adding depth to the conversation on diversity and inclusion in writing.
The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating and engaging with the panelists.
The exchange of ideas provided valuable takeaways, inspiring students to reflect on their role in sharing the stories of their region.
The day concluded with a captivating cultural dance performance by the university's students, showcasing the vibrant cultures of the Northeast and perfectly complementing the theme of the discussion.
