Dimapur, April 10 2013:
The NSCN (K) has asked the MHA and CFSB to remove the GPRN/NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) camp situated on the main road between Longleng district headquarters and Aboi.
In a press note issued by its MIP today, the NSCN (K) said a Zonal Leprosy Officer, one Dr Mhonjan Kithan, on his way to his place of posting in Mon had mistakenly landed at the GPRN/NSCN camp.
Although the officer had entered the camp unknowingly thinking it to be the road to Mon, the NSCN (K) claimed that he was arrested by the GPRN/NSCN cadres after which he, along with his driver and another staff member, were all beaten black and blue.
Stating that a fine of Rs 10 Lakh has also been imposed on the doctor, it said his (doctor) life is now under threat since he cannot pay the huge amount.
In this regard, the NSCN (K) questioned the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Delhi and the Cease-Fire Supervisory Board (CFSB) on why and how the rival group was given a camp on the main road between Longleng and Aboi.
Moreover, it said the said camp was established against the wishes of the Konyak people.
Furthermore, it maintained that when it had raised the question of the camp with Maj Gen (retd) N.George, former chairman of the CFSB, he had said it was on a deserted and abandoned road.
It asked why the CFSB was defending the existence of the camp 'when it is a threat to
the public' .
The NSCN (K), thus, demanded that the MHA and CFSB remove/vacate the said GPRN/NSCN camp 'so that the public is not disturbed by it' .
