Condolences pour in over Isak Chisi Swu's death

Imphal, June 29 2016: SS Khaplang, the Chairman and President and all the ranks and files of NSCN/GPRN conveyed condolence to the departed NSCN-IM's Chairman Isak Chisi Swu and shared the grief and pain with the bereaved family along with the rest of the Nagas.

SS Khaplang recalled Isak Swu as a humble, religious and a honest leader who rather chose to educate and christianise the Eastern Nagas during the years they worked together.

Isak Swu is also credited to have brought the first gospel in Eastern Nagaland.

His life is displayed in his work and his personal integrity, sincere commitment and his selfless dedication to the Naga cause shall remain a proud legacy which none can attain.

In his departure, the Nagas have lost a righteous and a saintly leader, said a press statement issued by the MIP of NSCN/GPRN.

Campaign for Peace & Democracy Manipur (CPDM) paid salute and condoled the demise of the Chairman of NSCN (IM) late Isak Chisi Swu.

CPDM said that his untimely demise have shocked many who would miss him a lot in crucial times of Nagas march towards unity.

CPDM feels the pain of losing him and deeply condoles his demise.

The Concerned Naga Senior Citizens deeply mourned the passing away of the Chairman of NSCN-IM, Isak Chisi Swu.

In his death, Nagas have lost a great patriotic Revolutionary in the history of their freedom movement which will be difficult to fill the vaccum caused by his demise.

We pray to the almighty God to grant solace to the bereaved family at this darkest moment.

The Mao Council also deeply mourned the passing away of the great Naga "National leader" Isak Chisi Swu.

He was a long standing Naga nationalist who made crucial contribution to the founding and development of the Naga freedom struggle.

His death is a great loss for his family and for the Naga people and for all freedom loving people at large.

A condolence service was held today in all the Naga inhabited villages of Tamenglong district jointly by students' body, Church, youth, women society, and village authority to mourn the demise of Isak Chisi Swu.

A condolence meeting was held today at Zeliangrong Union (ZU), Head Office, Imphal at 1.30 pm to to condole the demise of Isak Chisi Swu, which was presided by its president Amu Kamei.

Isak Chisi Swu was a dedicated and God fearing Naga leader.

During his tenure as Chairman of NSCN (IM), there was peace and solidarity amongst the Naga people.

His historic role in Framework Agreement for Naga Peace Accord will always be remembered for the days to come, the ZU (AMN) press release added.

Kabui Mothers' Association Manipur (KAMA) leaders, church leaders, intellectuals, village Chairman and Zeliangrong people also shared its grief with the bereaved family members at this crucial juncture and pray to Almighty God for his soul to rest in peace.

A joint condolence meeting in honour of late Isak Chisi Swu was organised by the Zeliangrong Baudi, Manipur and Zeliangrong Youth Front (AMN) at Langol Tarung, Imphal West today.

The leaders and members present expressed shock at his demise when the peace process is in its crucial stage.

The services rendered by the departed leader will always be remembered by the Naga people in generations to come.

The members present also observed a two minutes silence as a mark of respect and pray for his soul to rest in peace in the heavenly abode.

The meeting also shared the grief and sorrow of the bereaved family members at this hour of mourning, said a press release jointly issued by the State secretary and general secretary of ZBM and ZYF.

The Chiru Union, North East India condoled the demise Isak Chisi Swu.

In its emergency meeting held at the Union's headquarters to condole his demise, the Union remembered the indomitable spirit of the late leader for the cause of his people and paid its deepest condolence to the bereaved family and pray for his soul to rest in peace, said a press release issued by its president.

The armed outfit Zomi Re-unification Organisation (ZRO) has today condoled the demise of a prominent revolutionary leader Isak Chisi Swu.

Swu steered the Naga movement for self determination over three decades and remain faithful for the cause till his last breath.

His undaunted support to the emancipation of the Naga and deep concern for the political survival of other indigenous people of North East India, particularly the tribals of Manipur (hill areas) is unparallel in the history of revolutionary movement in the region, said a statement of the secretary (MEA), ZRO.

The Mizo People Convention, Manipur also conveyed heartfelt condolence to the family members of Isak Chisi Swu who championed the cause of the Nagas and brought out the framework agreement with the Government and the Naga people as a whole.

The Autonomous District Council (ADC), Tamenglong also deeply mourn the demise of Isak Chisi Swu.

In a statement, the chairman of ADC, Tamenglong said 'we feel proud that the seeds which you have sown today will surely bear its fruit tomorrow' and the Council firmly stands with the bereaved Nagas and pledged to remain committed to the Nation.

Manipur Democratic People's Front (MDPF) also condoled the demise of Isak Chisi Swu when the peace process is in its crucial stage and said that the role played by him for the cause of the Nagas will be always remember and pray for his soul to rest in peace.

A condolence meeting of late Isak Chishi Swu was held at Longmai Town Baptist Church today.

Organised by Longmai Area Village Authority Council and Longmai Area Churches' Fellowship, more than 100 Church leaders and local organisations took part in the meeting.

A candle light vigil was also organised at Longmai Bazar this evening to mark respect to the departed soul.

Tangkhul community under the aegis TNL organized a befitting condolence programme for the departed soul of Isak Chishi Swu at TNL ground, Wino Bazar Ukhrul yesterday evening.

More than 2000 people attended the candle light condolence service to pay homage to late Isak Swu.

The candle light service was led by TNL president Weapon Zimik and was followed by a minute of silence.

Delegates of social organizations including TNWL, TKS, TMNL, TSL and four zone leaders have left Ukhrul to attend the condolence service at Dimapur.
