Irabot Memorial Month celebration continues, recipients of "Irabot Ningshing Mana" announced

Irawat Celebration Committee has announced the recipients of "Irabot Ningshing Mana" for the year 2024.Addressing a press conference today at Irawat Bhawan, Irawat Celebration Committee chairman Dr Moirangthem Nara said that the Committee has been presenting the award for the past few years to individuals for their remarkable contributions in different aspects including media, education, arts and literature.
He asserted that this year, the "Irabot Ningshing Mana" will be awarded to 18 individuals including senior Advocate Khaidem Mani, veteran leader of the Communist party Oinam Jugin, journalist Ahongshangbam Mobi, environment & climate activist Licypriya Kangujam, human rights activist Rakesh Meihoubam, Nupi Marup leader Maibam Kadambini and Driver Union's leader Sairem Manglem Singh.
"Irabot Ningshing Mana will also be presented to Kabui Union Manipur in recognition of the Union's effort to promote unity & harmony among the communities in Manipur", he added.
He continued that the award will also be presented to renowned writer Chana Lukhoi, Kshetrimayum Sanatomba, women leader Thokchom Sujata Devi and Sanasam Umananda.
"Two more awards which are presented to progressive artists will be awarded to Loitongbam Dhoren Singh and Laipubam Bina Devi", he added.
Dr M Nara mentioned that the "Teacher Award" will be conferred to Khundrakpam Premjit, Abel Makui from Senapati, Ngairangbam Primary School's Assistant Teacher Chanam Budhi Singh and Kakching Makha High School's former Headmaster Naorem Rabi Singh.
Further, Dr M Nara shared that the awards will be presented on the occasion of the 128th birth anniversary celebration of Jananeta Hijam Irabot on September 30 which will be held at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen.
Moreover, the Irawat Celebration Committee, Lamsang Local in collaboration with Nongchup Kameng Nupi Samaj and Nongchup Kameng Youth Generation Club organised the celebration of Irabot Memorial Month at Nongchup Kameng Community Hall on September 25.It was graced by Nongchup Kameng Nupi Samaj leader Dhanapriya Devi, MSC/CPI secretary L Thoiren, assistant secretary N Singhajit, party leader L Sotinkumar, RK Amusana, Kh Nimai and Nupur Marup leader Sumatibala as presidium members.
The celebration began with the offering of floral tributes to a statue of Jananeta Hijam Irabot.
The opening song and closing song were performed by members of Manipur Chapter IPTA.
IEDUCO
As part of the celebration of Irabot Memorial Month (Irabot Ningshing Thabum), Imphal East District United Club Organisation (IEDUCO) and Yaipha Lamjing Kanglup (YLK) jointly organised a "District Level Open Patriotic Recitation Competition" at YLK Community Hall in Chingarel Tejpur on September 25 .
The event organised under the aegis of All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) was attended by AMUCO advisor Ningthoujam Shyamsunder Meetie, Poirei Leimarol general secretary Th Apabi Leima, AMUCO vice president Koijam Helen, AMAWOVA general secretary Ksh Sujata, AMUCO general secretary Pratap Leishangthem and PALEM president L Bimolata among others.
During the event, the gathering offered floral tributes to a photograph of Lamyanba Irabot and observed one minute of silence to pay respect to the brave heroes who gave their lives in the ongoing conflict.
Shagolsem Millioner of Emanuel English Academy Yaingangpokpi won the 1st position for his poem "Anouba Asha" while L Sanaton Khuman of Naorem Birahari College secured the 2nd position for his poem "Ahanba Maktada" .
Kangujam Veryrose of Leishemba School bagged the 3rd position for her poem "Meerot Natte Athouba Ni".
Moreover, IEDUCO under the aegis of AMUCO also conducted a State Level Open Patriotic Song Competition 2024 at Ibenthou-Ibudhou Puriba-Puraba Community Hall in Khurai Ningthoubung Leikai on September 25.Wangkheimayum Nongdon Mangang of Brahmapur Bheigyabati Leikai, Kshetrimayum Rupashya Devi of Kakching Turel Wangma and Thokchom Lamjingba Meitei of Bashikhong Bazar won the 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions respectively in the competition.
The winners were awarded cash prizes along with certificates.
Consolation prizes were also awarded to 7 participants namely Thongam Romila Devi, Nongthombam Mangiraj, Thokchom Lankhomba, Sorokhaibam Amarjit Singh, Tampha Chanambam, Armnos Ningthoujam and Usham Emerson Meetei.
A special award was also presented to Atom Nganthoi.
