Swachhta Student Camp begins at RIMS

A 3-Day Swachhta Student Camp kicked off today at the Jubilee Hall of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal.
The camp was organised by the Swachhta Action Plan (SAP) 2024-25 Committee of RIMS, Imphal as part of its continued commitment to the Swachh Bharat Mission.
According to a release issued by RIMS, the event aims to engage students in hands-on activities promoting cleanliness, sustainability and environmental awareness.
Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, Imphal inaugurated the camp in the presence of Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent of RIMS Hospital, Imphal and Prof Y Govindaraj Singh, Nodal Officer SAP 2024-25 .
Speaking on the occasion, Prof G Sunil Kumar emphasized the importance of instilling the values of cleanliness and hygiene among students, who play a pivotal role in shaping a sustainable future.
He also highlighted the institute's proactive measures under the Swachhta Action Plan, underscoring the role of such initiatives in creating a healthier and cleaner society.
Notably, the camp will feature a variety of activities, including cleanliness drives- Students will actively participate in cleaning key areas within and around the RIMS campus.
Workshops and awareness programmes- Experts will conduct sessions on waste management, water conservation, and sustainable practices.
Competitions- Postermaking and essay-writing competitions will be conducted to encourage students to creatively express their ideas on Swachhta.
Community outreach- Participants will engage with local communities to promote the message of cleanliness and hygiene.
The programme saw an active participation from Deputy Director (Admn), RIMS, Imphal, Principal of College of Nursing & Dental College, RIMS, Imphal, HODs, Nursing Officials and staff of RIMS, Imphal.
The camp also received enthusiastic participation from students of various schools of the region and it is expected to culminate with the adoption of key resolutions to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in both personal and public spaces.
