Kamjong, October 20 2023:
Following an inspection of the Kasom Khullen Higher Secondary School, the Tangkhul Aze Katamnao Long (TAKL) or Southern Tangkhul Students' Union has asserted that the "School Phagathansi Mission" has failed.
According to a statement issued by Yarchuiso Kashung, president, TAKL, Kasom Khullen Higher Secondary School was selected under phase 2 of the School Phagathansi Mission.
However, during an inspection of the school conducted today, TAKL has discovered many shortcomings.
Elaborating on the issues afflicting the school, TAKL said that the academic session of 2022-23 of Class XI and XII for both Arts and Science is yet to commence.
In addition, out of the seven lecturers (including the principal) and two contractual lecturers posted at the school by the relevant department, only one lecturer was present during TAKL's inspection visit.
Thus, TAKL has urged the concerned department to take up necessary action and ensure that school session commences within a week and that the principal and lecturers are stationed at the Teachers' Quarters.
Taking account of the slow progress in construction of the school's new building, TAKL has also appealed for its completion at the earliest.
Sharing that TAKL will carry out more inspections in schools under their jurisdiction, the students' union has urged all principals, staff/teachers to be present at their respective schools.
It may be noted that TAKL covers 85 villages, with a majority of them falling under Kamjong district.
The rest of the villages come under Senapati, Tengnoupal, Kangpokpi and Ukhrul district.
