A public meeting held today at Ukhongshang in connection with the killing of four persons at Changoubung near Kangpokpi has strongly condemned accusations levelled against the four posthumously.
The public was organised by the JAC Against The Killing of Four Persons at Changoubung.
Of the four persons found shot dead at Changoubung on December 3, three belonged to Ukhongshang while the other belonged to Uripok.
It may be mentioned here that KNF had owned the killing though mass media on December 11.The meeting by different civil organisations of the State adopted six resolutions.
To urge the Government to institute a judicial enquiry into the killing, to stand firm against the Kangpokpi killing and other killings by armed groups before publication of the accusations, to urge the State Government to extend ex-gratia to the families of the deceased, to appeal to all the UG groups of Manipur for investigation into the Kangpokpi killing, a submit a memorandum to the Government in this connection and to urge the Government for provision of jobs to each member of the families of the deceased were the resolutions adopted in today's meeting.
Talking to reporters, Upama (24), wife of Bishwarjit, condemned the killing as heartless and deceitful.
Holding her three year old son, Upama swore that his husband was innocent.
It was only for the third time that Bishwarjit went to Kangpokpi to sell rice before he was eliminated.
Saying that her husband was a very humble person, the bereaved widow asserted that the accusations levelled against her husband was simply unacceptable.
The victimised wife appealed to all concerned to deliver justice.
The participants of the meeting including the family members of the deceased rejected the accusations charged against the four after they were eliminated in a heinous manner.
They observed that the accusations were irrational and illogical.
They also appealed to all concerned to find out the truth and conspiracy behind the murder of four persons at Changoubing.
