Amend conduct: RPF to Manipur Police

Expressing serious concern over alleged insincerity and poor attitude of the Manipur Police and its Commando units towards the common people of the state, the outlawed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has asked the Manipur Police and its Commandos to amend their conduct and behaviour unless they do not want to face the wrath of the people who are fed up of their atrocities.
In a statement made available to the press, Secretary Publicity of the outfit Roben Khuman asserted that Manipur Police Commandos have been playing active role in carrying out the colonial activities of India government.
They have killed and tortured many revolutionary cadres and innocent people in the name of counter insurgency just to please New Delhi as well as in their greed for some monetary rewards and Gallantry medals.
What they are not thinking is that they too have their share in the fruit of the ongoing revolutionary movement.
It is not for the revolutionary organisations alone but for the whole Manipuri society, both hills and plains.
The statement further pointed out that it has been a recurring lie for the police commandos to kill someone and accused him of shooting against them and then claiming of recovering some empty cases and a 9 mm poistol loaded with three live rounds.
Often, police commandos also arrest innocent persons and accused them of being cadres of certain UG organizations involving in extortion, bomb blast, etc and paraded them before media along with some IED or hand grenades allegedly recovered from them.
Recently, Manipur Police claimed to have arrested nine PLA cadres along with some explosives.
But all the arrested persons are innocent who have nothing to do with RPF and its armed wing PLA.
The claim of the Manipur Police only goes to show their insincere nature towards the people of the state in their greed for some rewards, RPF alleged.
On the other hand, the statement pointed out, Manipur Police have seized many consignments of drugs from different places on different occasions.
Interestingly, they never produce the seized drugs before the media or identity the owners of the drugs even though they know them well, RPF added.
Instead of indulging in killing and arrest of innocent peoples in the name of counter insurgency, Manipur Police Department should utilise its personnel in preventing the social crimes which has increased manifolds in the past few years.
Killing someone after being gang-raped, rape of minors and many other social crimes have become daily news item for the people of the state.
People will respect and shower them with blessings if the police are active in the investigation of such social crimes and bring out the culprits and punish them accordingly, the statement of the RPF observed.
Questioning the investigative skill of the State Police, RPF alleged that investigation and identification of the culprits in various social crimes have become more like an impossible task for the state police.
People would automatically assume that police are always involved in the various social crimes if they do not investigate properly and remain just a silent spectator.
The voice of the people who are demanding to produce the culprits in the various social crimes is against the State Police, the statement said, adding that members CSOs and Meira Paibis who are actually helping the Police in trying to solve cases of crimes are the ones whom the police hated the most.
The main duty of the Police is to maintain law and order in a state or nation.
So, humility, generosity and kindness are the main characteristics which every policeman should possess.
It is not a good sign for a society when its people feel insecure in the presence of policemen who should be regarded as their guardian.
Police modernisation does not necessarily mean providing costly and effective weapons, fast and nice vehicles and modern equipments.
It also needs to discipline the police personnel and instruct them to follow the rules and keep their morality high and clean, the statement noted.
