While interacting with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Kangchup Chingkhong today, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand has assured their safe return to their respective homes with provisions for adequate security.
The Chief Minister visited the foothill village in Imphal West district as a part of his continuing effort to foster peace and build trust among communities, said a press release issued by the Chief Minister's Secretariat.
Additionally, he assured the IDPs that a pucca house will be constructed in the area soon to shelter security personnel.

At Kangchup, the Chief Minister maintained that the trust deficit that exists between the communities will be bridged through talks, citing an example of the Jiribam district where "all the communities are living in harmony now" .
He further informed that the Government will look into the grievances raised by IDPs to increase the monetary assistance for the construction of houses which were destroyed during the violence.
While interacting with the IDPs, the Chief Minister also informed that Rs 1.2 crore have been sanctioned for strengthening the Inter Village Road (IVR) and Rs 1.94 crore for construction of water supply scheme.
He further informed that a market shed will be constructed at a suitable location in the village.
During the interaction programme, a young IDP told the crowd that he was touched by a recent comment made by the Chief Minister who stated that despite the use of the atom bomb, even WWII ended on the negotiating table.
Sharing that the Chief Minister's words touched his heart, the young IDP said everyone should push for a new beginning by working to bring peace.
He added that everyone in Kangchup village was surprised by the Chief Minister's visit as it was never expected.
The villagers, who bore the brunt of ethnic violence, said that it was the first time that the State Chief Minister visited Kangchup Chingkhong village.
Prior to the interaction programme, Yumnam Khemchand Singh distributed a one-time- grant to 754 IDP college students under the Chief Minister's College Students Rehabilitation Scheme (CMCSRS) at Imphal College in Imphal West.
He distributed Rs 10,000 each to the 754 IDP students through DBT to their respective bank accounts.
On the occasion, Yumnam Khemchand Singh said it is the "most miserable stage of humanity" to be unable to return one's own homes and birth place.
He said that his Government is trying to rehabilitate all the IDPs, adding that job opportunities would be considered for the IDP students on completion of training on skill development.
Maintaining that the student community are the most affected during the conflict, he urged the teachers and students to work together and take the responsibility in their endeavour to cement the trust deficit among different communities inhabiting the State.
The event was also attended by Thanga AC MLA Tongbram Robindro, Imphal West Deputy Commissioner Mayanglambam Rajkumar, Higher and Technical Education Commissioner N Geoffrey and other officials.
Later, Yumnam Khemchand Singh inaugurated a public reception block and VIP waiting room at the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West.
The Chief Minister also visited the injured Tangkhul Naga villagers who are under medical treatment at RIMS, Imphal.
The villagers were injured in a recent attack by armed miscreants at Sinakeithei under Litan Police Station in Ukhrul district.
Later in the evening, the Chief Minister visited Shija Hospital & Research Centre, Langol, Imphal West and interacted with the Naga patients who were injured in yesterday's attack by armed miscreants near Joujangtek in Noney district.
He assured that the Government will bear all the medical expenses of the injured civilians.
