Imphal, July 13 2023: Ultimately it turned out to be more than a visit to a relief camp opened at Naorem Birahari College at Khundrakpam in Imphal East, as Governor Anusuiya Uikey more than hinted that external forces particularly from Myanmar are involved in the ongoing violence in Manipur.

Guwahati based NorthEast Live reported that the Governor indicated at the involvement of foreign hands in the ongoing violence.

'Forces from Myanmar involved in the violence,' reported NorthEast Live.

The disclosure of the Governor follows the line held by Chief Minister N Biren earlier that forces from Myanmar are involved in the ongoing violence.

This is also a line which for long has been maintained by the people of the valley and other civil society organisations.

The reference to the narco- terrorists falls along this line.

The North East Now reports : Governor Anusuiya Uikey made a big statement stating that external forces including people from Myanmar are involved in spreading unrest in the State.

Taking stock of inmates at a relief camp in Imphal East, the Governor said, "I have come to know that some people from outside have come, forces are apprehending them for your security, outsiders have come and are creating this kind of situation" .

Allaying apprehensions about further deterioration in the law and order situation, Uikey said, "This will be resolved, since search operations are underway.

We will push them outside Manipur.

People from Myanmar are also coming and creating disturbances.

So we have to stop them" .

"I have directed the Army, CRPF, BSF and the police as well to take action against outside elements," the Governor further said.

On July 1, Chief Minister N Biren Singh hinted at "a foreign hand" behind the violence that has gripped the State since May 3 .

According to N Biren Singh external elements may have had a hand in the ethnic clashes, adding that it seemed "pre-planned" .

During her visit to the relief camp, the Governor interacted with the displaced people and heard about the grievances and hardships facing the people and assured them to extend all possible help..

The camp has 296 displaced people.

The Governor enquired about the facilities/amenities which are being provided to the people and directed the district administration to improve whatever necessary.

She informed the people that the Chief Secretary has been directed to provide all requirements to the displaced people in relief camps.

She also asked the district administration to initiate skill training for the displaced people.

The State Government with the help of the Centre is making all out efforts to bring the situation to normal for all communities including the Meitei and the Kuki to live together as usual, she said.

She continued that hatred among the two communities has to be removed and the two communities should stop violence which is the prerequisite for initiating a meaningful dialogue.

Stating that more than 60,000 security personnel have been deployed in the State, the Governor said search operations to nab miscreants are on and large number of arms have been recovered.

Bunkers have also been removed in many places, she added.

On resettlement of the displaced people, the Governor said as a temporary measure, prefabricated houses are being built at Sawombung and the displaced people will stay there until the situation permits them to return to their respective places.

Adequate compensation will also be given to the people for their losses, she added.

Condemning all forms of violence, the Governor said violence will bring no solution and all parties have to shun violence.

She said only a meaningful dialogue will bring an amicable solution and therefore all stakeholders should come forward for talks and appealed to all communities/stakeholders to come forward for talks and to cooperate with the Government in bringing normalcy and peace in Manipur.

When asked about her initiatives for restoring peace, she said an all communities meet will be held at Raj Bhavan to discuss the issue soon.

Governor Anusuiya Uikey distributed blankets to the inmates at the camp from her side. She also distributed fans and rice cookers to the displaced people.

Secretary to the Governor, Bobby Waikhom accompanied the Governor during the visit.

Khundrakpam AC MLA Th Lokeshwar Singh, Imphal East DC Khumanthem Diana, Imphal East SP Ksh Shivakanta were also present during the visit.
