Manipur conclude 20th All India Independence cup Karate Championship 2026 campaign with 21 medals

Imphal, August 09 2026:
Manipur ended their campaign at the 20th All India Independence cup Karate Championship 2026 with a haul of 6 gold, 2 silver and 13 bronze medals.
Having secured a gold and 2 bronze medals yesterday in the 2-day championship held at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi, Manipur amassed 5 gold, 2 silver and 11 bronze medals today to end the championship on a high.

The State karatekas who bagged gold medals for Manipur on the final day include Lakshita Kakchingtabam, Leishemba Leishangthem, Bhagyaraj Rajkumar and Sapam Starter.
Lakshita Kakchingtabam topped the Sub- Junior (U13) girls' -60 kg category individual kumite event to win the gold medal.
Lakshita, daughter of (late) Kakchingtabam Devakanata Sharma and Sharmila Laimayum of Thongju Part -II also bagged a bronze medal in the individual kata event.
Leishemba Leishangthem meanwhile struck two gold, one each in the sub-junior (U11) -45 kg kumite and kata events.
He is the son of Leishangthem Malemnganba and Shantashree Oinam of Kyamgei Shantipur.
Bhagyaraj Rajkumar, meanwhile won the gold Medal in the sub-junior (U10) -40 kg kumite event.
He is the son of RK Premjit Singh and RK Ricky Devi of Kyamgei Awang Leikai .
Sapam Starter meanwhile claimed the gold medal in the sub junior (U11) -30 kg kumite event.
He is the son of Sapam Surchandra Singh and Thoudam Priyari Devi of Langthabal Phuramakhong.
The silver medallists meanwhile include Ziaol Haque (junior boys' -52 kg kumite) and Maniraj Sougrakpam (Sub Junior Boys U9 : -25 kg Kumite) .
Ziaol Haque is the son of Md Kalamuddin and Rejiya Jabera of Rahmaniya Ching Nungei while Maniraj Sougrakpam was born to Sougrakpam Rojendro Singh and Sarokhaibam Indra Devi of Thongju Part 2 .
Maniraj also won a bronze medal in the kata event.
The other bronze medallists are Rajkumari Rajluxmi (Cadet girls' -61 kg kumite), Rajkumari Ashakiran Devi (Sub-Junior U13 kata), Arish Thongam (Sub Junior U13 -60 kg Kumite), Yumlembam Manithoiba Singh (Sub Junior U13 +65 kg Kumite), Thongam Alfred (Sub Junior U9 -30 kg Kumite), Nameirakpam Chalamba (Sub Junior U13 -50 kg Kumite), Huidrom Langlensana (Sub Junior U11 +45kg Kumite and Kata) and Yoimayai Soibam (Sub Junior U12 +60 kgs Kumite) .
Rajkumari Rajluxmi is the daughter of RK Makaohei Singh and RK Binita Shija of Singjamei Yumnam Leikai while Rajkumari Ashakiran is the daughter of RK Muhindro Singh and RK Meiteilembi Devi of Kyamgei Maning Leikai.
Arish Thongam hails from Langthabal Phuramakhong and is the son of Thongam Ashinikumar Singh and Thongam Nganthoi Devi while Yumlembam Manithoiba Singh is the son of Yumlembam Ratankumar Singh and Yumlembam Sushila Devi of Yumnam Huidrom Awang Leikai.
Thongam Alfred is the son of Kishan and W Prity Devi of Langthabal Phuramakhong while Nameirakpam Chalamba is the son of Nameirakpam Roben Singh and Nganbam Bineshakhi Devi of Bashikhong, and Huidrom Langlensana is the daughter of Huidrom Hemjit Singh and Huidrom Sushila Devi of Kyamgei Maning Leikai.
Yoimayai Soibam is the son of Soibam Irabanta Singh and Elangbam Nomita Devi of Kha Naorem Leikai, said MAKA general secretary in a press release.
