SFs detonate IEDs planted by Kuki militants

Imphal, January 23 2024:
Security forces safely removed and later detonated two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), which were found planted by suspected Kuki militants near the gate of New Moreh under Moreh Police Station on Tuesday morning.
According to a police report, a combined team of central and state forces deployed in Moreh was on patrol on Monday morning to prevent any incident and maintain law and order in the border town.
As the patrolling team reached Ward No 8 New Moreh; they came across a suspicious looking object lying near New Moreh Gate.
On checking, the object was found to be IED.
Upon receiving information, the bomb disposal squad of central forces arrived at the location and found two IEDs, one unexploded lathode shell and other items.
The squad retrieved the two IEDs safely and later detonated one of the IEDs near the office of Custom Preventive Force around 11.40 am on Tuesday.
The second IED was detonated near St George School around 12.15 pm.
Meanwhile, the government has despatched additional central forces to Moreh to prevent any further.

The newly deployed central forces have commenced foot patrolling in Moreh town and conducting search operations in suspected areas.
On the other hand, curfew in Moreh has been relaxed from 6am till 9am with the tension subsiding.
During the relaxation period, Moreh residents rushed out to purchase edibles and essential items.
As the clock struck 9, no civilians were seen in the open except for security forces.
