Imphal, February 17 2024:
The 10 years of rule of Modi government in the country is a period of injustice with glaring example of indifferent attitude of his administration being the hesitancy in ending the violence raging for over nine months and restoring peace in Manipur, alleged All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Ra-najit Mukherjee.
Addressing media persons at Congress Bhawan, here, on Saturday, Ranajit said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised welfare-activities while campaigning for Lok Sabha election of 2014 which made many in the country believe what he had assured.
However, PM Modi has failed to live up to the people's expectation as could be comprehended from the 10 years of his government turning out to be a period of injustice to entire people of the country.
For more than nine months, people of Manipur have been suffering but PM Modi continues to undermine the importance of intervening and resolving the humanitarian crisis, maintained Ranajit, stating that Congress party is eagerly anticipating for the PM to speak on Manipur issue.
According to Ranajit, PM Modi promised to bring back 'black money' from foreign banks and even assured of crediting Rs 15 lakh to everyone who opened zero balance bank accounts.
The assurance given by PM Modi has completed 10 years but no one with zero balance bank accounts has received a single paisa.
PM Modi also promised to provide jobs to two crore youths every year but the hope of the youth for a secured life remains a distant dream till date, Ranajit said, while adding that the country witnessed highest unemployment rate in the past 10 years.
There are more than 30 lakh vacancies in different central government departments but the posts remain unfilled while the Modi government's commitment to double the farmers' income in 2022 is akin to rubbing salt to the wounds.
Around two years ago.
farmers launched a massive agitation for nearly one year in Delhi and surrounding areas but the agitation ended after PM promised to consider legal guarantee of MSP.
However, PM Modi's promise is yet to materialise even after two years of his promise, Ranajit alleged.
The press conference was also attended by functionaries of MPCC including vice president Hareswar Goswami and others.
