Tanker truck plunges into deep gorge, driver hurt

A Tata Tanker truck carrying coal for SKV Company Moreh faced mechanical problem and fell into a gorge, around 300 metres deep, on Thursday.
The unfortunate incident occurred while the truck was on its way to Moreh.
According to a statement of the police, on receiving information that a Tata Tanker truck bearing registration no.NLO1N3614, carrying coal had fallen into gorge which is approximately about 250- 300 metres deep from the highway road, a team of Tengnoupal police station led by inspector Shongsir Jimmy Paul Monsang along with his escort immediately rushed to the spot and started rescue and evacuation mission.
During the mission, one driver identified himself as Shadir Ali (41) son of Basir Khan from 139 Mangara Piper Pur Ame-thi, Ramgaj, Uttar Pradesh was found lying unconscious and badly injured while the vehicle was also damaged.
As the driver was not in a state to stand and walk on his own, the police team along with few manpower available at the spot used shawl and bed sheet clothes to lift the injured man up to the main road, the statement mentioned.
It further stated that as the condition of the injured person was critical, he was immediately evacuated to 3 Assam Rifles, Tengnoupal Unit Hospital for treatment.
After necessary treatment was administered, Tengnoupal OC gave proper clothes to the man as his previous clothes were unfit to wear.
He was then evacuated to JNIMS hospital by the staff of SKV Company Moreh, it continued.
A report of the incident was conveyed to the OC of Moreh PS .
