Ukhrul, October 10 2019: The 3rd edition of Shirui Lily festival will see an extravaganza of musical live concert from acclaimed international rock bands, rock competition, myriad cultural items, beauty pageant etc at three different venues of Ukhrul district.

Shirock, the vital component of Shifest will be held at Bakshi Ground while other events of the festival would be organized at Shirui village and TNL ground.

Shirock is set to attract a large number visitors, music lovers and fans from across the country especially from the North East and the international bands undoubtedly adds that extra charm to Shifest.

The third State level Shirui Lily Festival will be held from October 16 to 19 and famed international rock band Nazareth and acoustic rock band Extreme will rock the opening and closing night of the festival.

ShiRock Fest, an annual international rock festival held during the Shirui Lily Festival, is a Government-sponsored music festival, a part of Shirui Lily Festival organized by Manipur Tourism Department to promote the conservation of the endangered State flower Shirui Lily and to promote young talented artistes.

The major attraction of this festival is ShiRock competition wherein different bands from the entire North East region will contest for the coveted title "Shirock 2019" carrying a cash component of Rs 10 lakh and the voice - the solo hunt for the individual prize competition during the four days Shirui Lily festival celebration at Ukhrul.

Shirock festival has etched a name on the country's music map since last year, after the American heavy metal bands Steelheart and Queensryche rocked Bakshi ground Ukhrul during the 2nd edition of Shirock.

According to sources, 22 rock bands from North East States-Manipur, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim and Mizoram-will compete at the ShiRock band competition.

Beside cash award, the winner of the rock contest will open for the international band Extreme on the closing night.

Jagoi an ardent rock fan said that Shirock is a much awaited music festival, and added that he will not miss the opportunity of seeing Nazareth perform live at Ukhrul.
