Donations pour in for victims of present unrest

In the midst of the ongoing turmoil in Manipur, writers/ scholars from Manipur & beyond have displayed a remarkable act of empathy.
A Delhi based writer Thangjam Mitsna Chanu with the assistance of writer Aagni Sekhar and Pramod Jha, Director, Didi Ranchi have collected a sum of Rs 52,000 to buy winter clothes for the conflict survivors staying at various relief camps set up across Manipur.
Donations were also made by many renowned writers such as Ayathurai Santhan (Sri Lanka), Mamang Dai (Arunachal Pradesh), Rajeep Vettiyattil (Kerala), Neeta Jha, Anjalee Basumatary, Mohini Thingorani, Prabha Kumari, Laksmisree Banerjee (Kolkata), Waheda Hussain and Sahena Ahmed.
The amount of Rs 52,000 has been handed over to the Writers of Manipur in support of its "Aeba singgi tengbang khongchat" launched on May 7 last to help the victims of present unrest.
So far, Writers of Manipur has used the fund to distribute winter clothes to conflict survivors taking shelter at more than 20 relief camps.
Writers of Manipur in collaboration with North American Bangladesh Manipuri Society has also distributed more than 1300 blankets to conflict survivors.
Writers of Manipur has also provided 20 sewing machines to help empower the displaced people staying in relief camps.
