Relief materials extended

Under the overall supervision of International Association of Lions Clubs, the Manipur Crisis Relief Project under District -322 D of Manipur region distributed relief materials to 11 relief camps in Kakching District.
The relief material were distributed to relief camps opened at Kalyan Ashram, Kakching; Yumbimacha High School; Kha- Manipur College; Kongoi Community Hall; Old Age Home, Kakching; Indoor Stadium; Sanatombi High School, Keirak; Khomdonbi Memorial English School Kakching Khunou, Kakching Khunou Angom Leikai; Thongjao Maning Leikai; Langmeidong Higher Secondary School and Ibudhou Panganganba Community Hall, Hiyanglam covering all together 536 families and 1801 inmates, said a statement.
The distributed items include blankets for winter, rice, dal, cooking oil, packaged water, sanitary items, soaps etc.
Many members from different Lions Clubs of Manipur were also present in today's relief materials distribution programme.
Church's Auxiliary for Social Action (CASA), a Delhi based organization extended relief materials worth around Rs 5 lakhs to five relief camps opened in Kakching district yesterday.
The relief materials were provided to relief camps opened at Kakching Indoor Stadium; Kha Manipur College; Kongoi Community Hall; Sanatombi High School; Keirak and Wabagai Higher Secondary School.
The relief materials include rice, pulses, edible oil, salt, mosquito nets, sanitary pads, soaps etc.
Speaking at the occasion, CASA North-East in-charge, Meru Lazarus said that CASA has been extending essential and edible items to relief camps opened across the State providing shelter to thousands of displaced people by the tragic communal conflict since June.
Considering the pain and anguish inflicted upon the civilians, he said that prayers for restoration of peace and normalcy will be heard and expressed belief that Manipur will become a peaceful State soon.
Coordinator of relief camps N Munal Meitei and Songaidar Tontang, Secretary, Weaker Section, Manipur were also present at the occasion.
Meanwhile, the Pakhangkhong Youth Development Association (PYDA), Thoubal district donated relief materials to shelter camp opened at Yairipok Yambem Girls Hostel at Yairipok Monthou Laikhong in Imphal East district on October 5 .
The association extended the relief materials in connection with its 45th foundation day.
