33rd State Polo Tournament 2017 : MPSC-A, X Polo Club secure huge wins to move into semi-finals

Imphal, November 13 2017:
MPSC-A and X Polo Club demonstrated great riding skills and scoring capabilities today to cruise into the semi-finals of the ongoing 33rd N Hazari and Dr N Tombi State Polo Tournament 2017 which is organised under the aegis of Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association at Mapal Kangjeibung.
It was a fine triumph for MPSC-A in the first quarterfinal match, with a thumping 9-2 victory against Chingkheihunba Polo Team.
Th Ranjit of MPSC-A struck the opener to give his team a 1-0 lead in the first chukker.
S Abungcha then scored one more goal to finish the second chukker 2-0 .
The third chukker saw not a single goal from either side.
It was in the fourth chukker that MPSC took a huge sudden lead with seven goals which proved almost a nightmare for the Chingkheihunba side which managed to score two goals through Th Kaoba.
S Bimol scored 4 goals while S Abungcha scored two and Th Ranjit contributed one to underline their dominance and handed MPSC-A an easy entry into the semi-finals.
In the second quarter final match, players of X Polo Club shone all through the four chukkers to thrash Imphal Riding Polo Club with a 11-1 margin.
The first chukker of this match was also a slow one as X Polo took a 1 -0 lead in the first chukker through L Tolenkhomba.
Then three more goals came in the second chukker as Th Jacob struck one while P Ojit scored twice.
Imphal Riding Polo Club pulled one goal through S Dollar which was the last goal from their side.
The domination continued in the third chukker as L Atangba, M Doren and H Muhindro added one goals each with relative ease to take a 7-1 lead.
L Atangba and Th Jacob then pumped in 2 goals each in the last chukker to complete the 11-1 rout and helped the team sail into the semifinal of the tournament.
MPSC-B will face Samadon Ayangba Polo Team in the third quarter final match at 1 pm while Tekcham Polo Club will clash Khurai Polo Club-A at 2 pm.
