JFI to give special focus for development of Judo in state

Considering the physical parameters and mental capabilities of the sports persons of the north east states, Judo Federation of India(JFI) will be focusing on north eastern states as a special area for development of Judo sport.
JFI is also all set to adopt two Judo clubs of the state for two complete years for the promotion and development of the game.
"'From our experiences, we came to know that North East is a special area for development of Judo sports in terms of competitive aspects,"' says General Secretary Mukesh Kumar of JFI.
"'The physical parameters and anatomy of Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland state people is having many plus points for Judo sports"' .
Mukesh Kumar was delivering a presentation on NE as special area for Judo development in the ongoing North Eastern Council(NEC) sponsored three day seminar on development of sports in the north eastern states at the Manipur Olympic Bhavan hall here.
The seminar which was organized by Manipur Olympic Association in association with Youth Affairs and Sports department of the state was attended by many coaches and sports officials from the north eastern states.
The seminar will conclude on September 17 .
Acknowledging that many centuries NE people have traditional schools for martial arts including combat games, grappling, traditional wrestling etc, the JFI representative also informed that his federation is all set to adopt two judo clubs in Manipur for two years in helping the region in producing talented world class judo players.
The overall results shown by the NE judo players particularly from Manipur and Mizoram states, it is correct to say that North East is a special area for development of Judo sports in terms of competitive aspects,the visiting official said.
JFI will be providing adequate judo mates, judo dresses and necessary coaching from time to time and this project will continue for two complete years, Mukesh Kumar said.
"'Hence they can be taught the modern game of Judo for excellence.Many talented players can be groomed and made outstanding players by providing adequate facilities"' .
The judo clubs are Mayai Lambi Sports Academy (A) and (B) at Mayai Lambi township in Manipur's Imphal west district,according to senior judo Dr L Saratchandra (Kungshelnaha) of the state sports department.The said judo clubs have produced Olympian judokas namely Tombi and Anita besides other international players such as Sanjoy and Yaima.
