Foundation day of CADA observed

The 6th Foundation Day of Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) was observed here today at Lamyanba Sanglen, Palace Compound.
The function was graced by K.Sanajaoba Singh, Joint Director, Department of Social Welfare, Government of Manipur; Arambam Rabindra, president of CADA as chief guest and president respectively while R.K.Ibungosana, Superintendent, Narcotic Control Bureau and R.K.Ranendrajit, Editor of Freedom daily were the guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, K.Sanajaoba asserted that NGOs were helping many drug addicts to cope with their lives and to bring them to mainstream and said.
It is important that CADA volunteers are helping drug addicts advising them not to take the intoxicant substances, K.Sanajaoba added.
Drawing the importance of the issue, R.K.Ranendrajit said, "Many drug addicts in the state are of young age so there is a need of intensive awareness programmes particularly in the schools.
There are people who want to joint hand to fight this menace but one has not been able to extend it fully " .
President of CADA, Arambam Rabindra stated that the ill-effects of drug addiction need to be defined from the grass root level in order to prevent the menace.
"There is a need to include drug related subjects in the school syllabus, parents' negligence is also a main factor in spoiling a child life", he asserted.
Stressing on the need for curbing the menace, R.K.Ibungosana, Superintendent, NCB said, "In the present system, there is no capital punishment which can be meted out to drug traffickers.
We need to join hands in order to stop drug trafficking " .
It is worthwhile to mention that CADA is one of the organisations in Manipur spear heading in fighting against the ails in Manipur.
It is a moral police that has been on drive against alcohol, drugs and immoral activities.
CADA volunteers often take immense risk in carrying out its task.
Even in the dead of night, they put their efforts to see that no drunkards affect the society.
