Hangshing brothers propel Ward No 8 (B), 1 (A) into KIWAT semis

With the tempo of every matches speeding towards its pinnacle in the ongoing 15th Kanggui Inter Ward Tournament at M Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi, Ward No 8 (B) and Ward No 1 (A) find a spot after their respective third quarter-final match win today.
Seilen@Len Hangshing and Sehminlun shone in Ward No 8 (B) narrow win over Ward No 16 (B) to set up a semi-final clash with Ward No 12 (B) on February 5 .
Sehminlun thunderous strike in the 4th minute not only proved worthy enough of a winner but also propelled Ward No 8 (B) through to the semi-final.
In the third breathtaking quarter-final match between Ward No 1 (A) and Ward No 2 (A), the winners were decided via tie break after the aw-inspiring match notably ended in a 2-2 draw in the regulation time.
The physically, tactically and mentally better team in the game, Ward No 2 (A) took the lead in the 37th minute when it's iron-willed striker break the deadlock with his missile strike and dominate most of the entire game.
With only three minutes to the stoppage time, Nelson of Ward No 1 (A) headed home a corner kick to find the late equalizer in the 77th minute.
Ward No 1 (A) skipper Paaji Hangshing after a dejected penalty kick, come back from a hallowing penalty misses to honouring a landmark.
Dashing past five players, Paaji Hangshing sprinted into Ward No 2 (A) penalty area brilliantly scored a truly wonderful goal to give Ward No 1 (A) 2-1 lead in the 78th minute.
It was a moment bolt from the blue for Ward No 2 (A) who almost finished the game 1-0 but the last three minute to the stoppage time has changed everything after there was lack of spirit among them as their main striker Daniel was replaced due to injury in the 47th minute.
On the other hand, Ward No 1 (A) skipper Paaji Hangshing's inspirational performance finally landed Ward No 1 (A) in leading the game.
Revitalizing their dropped spirit, Ward No 2 (A) came back smartly a minute before the stoppage time and found the beyond belief equalizer in the 79th minute through Anil Meetei when he cleverly and smoothly slipped the ball past Ward No 1 (A) custodian Mimin Chongloi for a tie break.
In the tie break, despite of Johnny's brilliant two save out of five shoot, two players of Ward No 2 (A) failed to convert the penalty kick and one was smartly saved by Ward No 1 (A) custodian Mimin Chongloi while Ward No 1 (A) players managed to converted three penalty kick and won the match 5-4 in aggregate to sail through the semi-final round.
In the meantime, in women's volleyball last semi-final match, the defending champion Ward No 3 (B) defeated Ward No 12 (A) to set up the final match with Ward No 9 (B) on February 7 while in Men's Volleyball defending champion Ward No 3 will play Ward No 2 to retain the Champion trophy on the same day.
On Monday, Ward No 14 and 13 from Team-B will clash in the last football quarter final match at 12.00 pm in the first match while from Team-A, Ward No 9 and 10 will play in the second match at 2.00 pm .
