Sahitya Academy Award for H Nengsong

Eminent Paite writer and advocate H Nengsong was honoured with Sahitya Akademi Bhasha Samman award for tribal language.
He is the first writer of Paite language to be given this award.
The Sahitya Academy Award is a literary honor in India, which the Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters, annually confers on writers who wrote the most outstanding books of literary merit across different genres and languages.
Advocate H Nengson, who also retired from IFS as Deputy Conservator of Forest has published 11 books in Paite language which are well read in the society.
His writings help in the growth of Paite language and its literature.
His compilations consists of five volumes of book dealing with history of Paite individuals, according to the statement issued by Sahitya Akademi, Rabindra Bhavan while announcing their annual awards recipients.
The award which carries a cash prize of Rs 1 Lakh, an inscribed copper plaque and citation was conferred to H Nengsong on January 29 this year at New Delhi by the President of Sahitya Akademi.
Saying he was privileged to have been conferred with the award, which he has never dreamt of in the wildest of his dream, the writer has shared his cash award to as many as 30 individuals including Church leaders, family council, friends , and relatives today in a simple reception ceremony held at his residence Eden Huan, Hiangtam Lamka.
