Land donated to grandparents who sold properties, land to save ailing minor

14 and an orphan, Thouchom Rohit who has medical condition has been under the care of his grandparents who were forced to sell all their properties and land to cover his treatment.
With no home and land to call home, Rohit and his family have been taking shelter at an open space.
Rohit is son of late Thouchom Polotomba and late Th Ongbi Babita Devi of Moirang Thana Leikai, Bishnupur district.
He met with an accident when he was little and developed a medical condition which forced him to use urinary catheters to relieve himself.
Amidst all the agony, the grandparents now have a new ray of hope as Smart Society today donated a piece of land, assured a home and promised to bear all medical expenses of Rohit.
Smart Society, a subsidiary unit of Salai Holdings Private Limited, handed over the land documents to the family at a simple function at the premises of the Youth Unity Club, Moirang Thana Leikai, Bishnupur today.
Smart Society secretary Narengbam Dhanabati, Salai Holdings Private Ltd AO K Benni, staffs, Moirang Thana Leikai Youth Unity Club president M Manimatum and womenfolk of the locality attended the land donation programme.
Speaking at the event, N Dhanabati said that the assistance was provided to ease the hardship the family has been facing over the years.
Smart Medicos will bear all medical expenses of Rohit, he said.
Rohit will be enrolled at Salai Holdings Private limited's Smart Universal Academy, Sekmaijin Khunou and provided boarding facility and free education upto Class XII.
Salai will also provide a monthly pension of Rs 5,000 to his grandparents, Dhanabati said.
