31st Manipur State Taekwondo Championship : UTA lead medal tally with 19 medals on first day

Imphal, December 20 2018: The 31st Manipur State Taekwondo Championship 2018-19 kicked off today at Indoor Stadium, Khuman Lampak under the aegis of All Manipur Taekwondo Association, with the participation of 354 Taekwondo players including 239 boys and 115 girls players from 15 different units.

The opening function was attended by Titular King of Manipur Sanajaoba; Bobby Waikhom (IAS), President All Manipur Taekwondo Association; Loukrakpam Tombi Devi, Corporator Ward no 20, Yaiskul Assembly Constitution; and Samom Rita Devi, Corporator Ward no 14, Yaiskul Assembly Constituency was presidium members.

International player Nongdren Khaba, who have participated at the 2nd Junior Poomsae Taekwondo Championship 2018 held at Chinese Taipei this year, led the pledge taking programme along with the participants as per the rules and regulation of the game.

UTA bagged 7 gold, 4 silver and 8 bronze to lead the medal tally in the first day of the championship closely followed by NSA securing 4 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze.

Sub-Junior Boys U-18 kg
Lourembam Diamond (PTA) clinched the gold while Soibam Punshiba (PTA) settled with silver, Bipin Thapa (Keishampat) and Th Thoiba (Jiribam) finished with bronze medal.
Sub-Junior Boys U-41 kg
Kangujam Jenish (Nambol), Ningthoujam Tomba (NSA) and Leimapokpam Ronson (NSA), Kenish Asem (UTA) bagged gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
Sub-Junior Boys U-44 kg
Irungbam Sachin (NSA) bagged the gold medal while Kangabam Jenny (SAI RC) secured the silver medal and Lourembam Newzealand (PTA), Md Izaz (Sora) settled with bronze medal.
Sub-Junior Boys U-50 kg
The gold medal went to Leitanthem Rohit Singh (Marjing) while the silver medal was clinched by Yuhenba Thokchom (SAI RC) and the bronze medal was collected by N Albert Singh (HTA), Yensembam Sinthoiren (UTA).
Sub-Junior Girls U-16 kg
L Linthoingambi Devi (PTA) beat Th Abenao Devi (HTA) to grab the gold medal.
Sub-Junior Girls U-38 kg
N Saina Devi (NSA) grabbed the gold medal defeating Hafiza Khatun (NSA) in the final while L Sayana Devi (NSA), Dhineshori Devi (CTI) collected the bronze medal.
Sub-Junior Girls U-41 kg
Sairem Taniya (PTA) collected the gold medal while M Dolly Devi (HTA) settled with silver medal.

Ningombam Rosy Chanu (UTA) and W Senny (UTA) finished with bronze medal.
Sub-Junior Girls U-47 kg
The day belonged to Ningthem Chanu Nganthoi (UTA) who beat Linjensana (UTA) to emerge champions in this category while Irengbam Chingkheinganbi (UTA), Yumnam Jiber (CTI) collected the bronze medal.
Cadet Boys U-33 kg
The gold, silver and bronze went to Kh Sanatomba (NSA), Laishram Newton (Marjing) and L Bamuder Meitei (Jiribam) respectively.
Cadet Boys above 65 kg
Kangujam Milan (Nambol) defeated Phijam Chinglemba (PTA) to clinch the gold medal while Saurabh Kumar (UTA), Malemnganba Ningthoujam (UTA) finished with bronze medal.
Cadet Girls above 59 kg
S Lamnganbi Chanu (UTA) outshone Irengbam Chunguleima (NSA) to grab the gold medal.
Junior Boys U-45 kg
Laitonjam Jilangamba (UTA) was at his best to down Sorokhaibam Chandra (SAI RC) and clinch the gold medal while Rakesh Bakti (Jiribam), Mv Aziz Hussain (Lilong) finished with bronze medal.
Junior Boys U-68 kg
Chungkham Yaikhomba (UTA), Koijam Kiran (UTA), Ningthoujam Wilson (SAI RC) grabbed the gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.
Junior Boys above 78 kg
The gold medal went to Toijam Tondonsana (SAI RC) while Maibam Robert (UTA) settled with silver.
Junior Girls U-42 kg
L Reeya Devi (PTA) overpowered Sakhera Parben (Sora) to emerge champions in this category.
Junior Girls U-59 kg
Elangbam Sanathoi (SAI RC) clinched the gold medal while H Helena Devi (NSA) took the gold medal in the Junior Girls above 68 kg category.
Senior Male U-54 kg
Sapam Somorjit (UTA) outplayed Sanabam Kamal (IBSA) to clinch the gold medal while Khullakpam Ajamin (IBSA), Christopher Phaomei (HTA) settled with bronze medal.
Senior Male above 87 kg
The gold medal went to Usham Herojit (UTA) while silver was collected by Salam Pelandra (UTA) and Chongtham Arbinkumar (CTI) finished with bronze medal.
Senior Female U-46 kg
Naoroibam Jina (UTA) defeated P Priya Devi (UTA) to take the gold medal while K Sanatombi Devi (SAI RC) clinched the gold medal in the senior female above 73 kg category.
