FLAM ease to 3-1 win in 1st BBM Memorial Trophy opener

FLAM registered a comeback 3-1 win against hosts IEVFA, Salanthang today in the opening match of the 1st S Brajabidhu and W Muhindro Singh Memorial Veteran Football Tournament (BBM Trophy) organised under the aegis of United Veteran Football Association at SWC, Nungoi ground today.
The inaugural function of the tournament was graced by Nishikant Singh Sapam, publisher The Sangai Express; Ng Brajakumar Singh, president United Veteran Football Association Manipur; L Surjit Meitei, ex-Upa Pradhan, Pundongbam Gram Panchayat; N Sudhir Singh, advisor, SSC Sekta as dignitaries.
IEVFA had a brilliant start to the game as S Shyamson found the breakthrough early in the 10th minute but it proved to be their last goal as FLAM defence did not allow further attempts and their midfield and forwards worked in tandem to go for a clinical 3-1 finish at the end.
FLAM which were trailing by 1 goals till the break picked up the pace soon after the restart and it was in the 36th minute that Heminthang Haokip made a fine run and drew level with a stunning shot.
The match took a turn after the equaliser as FLAM capitalise on the ball and started to tease IEVSA defence line up looking for the difference maker and their efforts paid off in the 55th when Kh Romen found the back of the net to break the deadlock.
FLAM's did not took it long to hit the decisive goal as Kh Ratan beat IEVFA's keeper three minutes latter and set up the huge win.
Kh Surmani of FLAM was yellow carded by the referee for a reckless tackling in the 53rd minute of the match.
ATVFA will be meeting Sangai FC in the second Group B league match of the tournament which is featuring 8 teams clubbed into 2 groups.
