Transferred teachers to be brought back : CM

Replying to queries raised by Opposition MLAs N Loken, K Ranjit, Th Lokeshore, DK Korunthang, K Meghachandra, Kh Joykisan and Alfred Kanngam Arthur, Chief Minister N Biren Singh has assured that teachers who were transferred to far off places and other areas for necessary utilisation, will be brought back at the earliest.
Even though the said 7 Opposition MLAs raised the queries, only N Loken, K Ranjit, Kh Joykisan and Alfred Kanngam Arthur took part in the discussion.
MLA K Ranjit said that of the 20/30 teachers who were transferred to Sugnu Kendra, almost all of them have been utilised and demanded the Education Minister to make sure that the utilised teachers are sent back or to provide the details of the officer concerned who reported otherwise leading to the utilisation of the teachers in other areas.
Replying to the motion raised by MLA Ranjit, Chief Minister N Biren Singh explained that the teachers were utilised based on some specific criteria.
However, some of the reports submitted regarding presence or absence of students seem to have been manipulated, he admitted and urged the MLAs to submit a proper report so as to enable the Government to take a decision to send back the teachers who are being utilised elsewhere.
On the other hand, Education Minister Th Radheshyam said that more than 5000 posts of Government teachers are currently vacant and added that necessary steps are being taken up to appoint 600 Higher Secondary teachers out of the said vacant posts.
As a stop gap arrangement, it will be seen if some teachers can be appointed on contract basis, the Education Minister said, clarifying that there is no question of politicising the education sector of the State.
The Government schools have also been able to produce position holders, he said and added that the condition of the Government schools have greatly improved compared to the past.
Claiming that Rs 25 crore have been included in the budget for improving the schools, Radheshyam said that under Corporate Social Responsibility, Rs 19 crore have been used for constructing state of the art toilets.
He also added that 7 residential schools have been constructed at remote areas of the hills.
The Education Minister continued that there is a plan to convert all the Government schools to model schools as a part of the Go to Village Mission.
