Challenge Cup Veteran Football: UVSA, NCDA, VDF register wins; PSA and DFA end in draw

Imphal, April 22 2015 :
UVSA, Lilong Chajing; NCDA Khonghampat and VDF, Sawangbung Post registered contrasting win while PSA shared the day with DFA Turelwangma in league matches of the 17th Challenge Cup Veteran Football Tournament being played under the supervision of Manipur Veteran Football Association (MVFA) at Mapal Kangjeibung on Wednesday.
The actions of the tournament resumed after a short break due to bad weather with UVSA taking on TBSFA, Tabungkhok in the first match of the day.
UVSA take early control of the match by keeping the ball under their possession.
N Sagor transformed the high rate of ball possession into viable result in the 21st min of the match when he put the ball into the net of TBSA.
Tabungkhok's effort to get back the one goal deficit was denied by the defenders of UVSA.
Th Tomba put the result of the match beyond doubt when his low drive beats the custodian of TBSA and found the back of the net in 41st min.
UVSA with 2 goals cushion did not extend themselves and comfortably pocket the match in their favour in 2-0 .
The second match between NCDA and VSAN Nambulmapal was a one way traffic.
From the initial moment of the match NCDA players swamp VSAN territory and fires in goal at will.
Biken sounded the war cry in 7th min when he docked his marker and put the ball into VSAN goalmouth.
Gopen came into the party in 16th min.
VSAN players were all around the ground chasing the ball, however, NCDA continued to exploit the space offered by VSAN and in 23rd min Biken's effort found the target for the second time.
Six minutes later Kh Bimolchand also added another goal for VSAN in 29th min.
P Romesh and M Pahari also added one goal each in 37th and 45th min to complete the thrashing NCDA by 6-0 .
VDF overcame SSYC (B) stiff challenge by 2-1.In the closely fought match VDF utilized the opportunities that came their way in 31st and 50th min through Tender and Ngoubicha while SSYC squandered the few scoring opportunities that were in their favour.
SSYC did not lose heart and keep on moving forward for the elusive goal.
Finally their search ended in 53rd min when P Suresh found the target to the delight of SSYC players.
However, the effort came too late as VDF defended their slender lead till the final whistle.
The last match of the day was played between PSA and DFA.
DFA took the early lead through Kh Rajen in 5th min when his effort found the goalmouth.
Stunned by the sudden goal PSA came back with purpose and created many chances but could not found the target.
PSA effort show the light of the day when Pradeep fires a goal in 30th min to bring relieve to his team.
Both the teams could not added further goals to their kitty and the match ended evenly.
