NISA, Thangmeiband grabbed the last semi final berth of the Shirui Cup Silver Jubilee Football Tournament with a 2-1 victory over AMOFA, Moirang at Tangkhul Naga Long ground, Ukhrul today.
The last quarter final tie began on a whirlwind fashion with Nisa taking the lead within 39th seconds through N Uttam Singh off an AS Somayo pass.
While the Thangmeiband custodian Y Jiten denied L Lokesh a scoring chance to equalise for Amofa saving a direct free kick in the same session Leipakchao doubled the Nisa lead after four minutes.
Even though Amofa levelled the score with a 78 minute goal from M Robert the Thangmeiband outfit held their fort inspite of repeated Moirang onslaught to emerge victorious.
Khampu of Nisa and N Bhupendro of Amofa were cautioned in the match.
Yartheiso Luikham, who donned Services colour in the 1955 IFA Shield tournament at Calcutta and represented Assam in the 1965 Santosh Trophy at Quilon was the guest of honour of today's match.
