Open Rapid Chess Tournament Bit Irom leads with 6 points

Imphal, May 14 2017:
National and veteran player Bit Irom led the table with 6 points at the end of the 8th round of the Second Phase double round robin Sunday Open Rapid Chess Tournament today at the premises of Singjamei Chess Club.
Two National players, H Maniton and E Shashikanta are at the second and third spot with 5.5 points each.
Top seed O Ningthem is at the third spot with 5 points.
Third seed N Herojit, veteran A Sarat and fifth seed S Dhanachandra have 4.5 points each and share the fourth spot while local player AK Sanjoy is at the fifth place with 3.5 points.
Seasoned players L Shyamkishor, Th Bijoy and O Mani are yet to open their account.
The pending matches are to be played next Sunday.
The tournament organised by Singjamei Chess Club, Imphal under the aegis of Manipur Chess Association is being played under the theme "Play Chess for a Better Life" .
Altogether 12 players from different places of the State are taking part in the tournament.
