Trucks carrying stones, sand illegally seized

Forest and Environment Minister Th Shyamkumar today inspected Forest Check Post at Mantripukhri and pulled up around 10 trucks for illegally carrying stones and sand.
Minister Shyamkumar also inspected the Forest Check Post at Sekmai and Kanglatongbi.
Speaking to media persons, Minister Th Shyamkumar said that the Forest Department has set a target to generate a revenue of Rs 100 crore annually and today's inspection was to ensure the officials are discharging their duties diligently with an aim to achieve the set target.
The Minister further said that the revenue generated by the Forest Department can be utilized in conserving forest and in other developmental activties.
The seized trucks were later released after toll taxes were paid near Information Technology Park, Mantripukhri.
