Joint meeting resolves to suspend stir

Imphal, May 14 2017:
The All Manipur SSA Teachers' Association has decided to suspend its stir following a meeting with Principal Secretary, Director of Education and Additional State Project Director today.
In a statement, the Association said that the decision to suspend the stir was taken after the State Government assured to release the six months pending salaries within one week and remaining backlog salaries by first week of July and to update MGEL/EIN of SSA teachers.
Following the assurance of the Government, the Association has agreed to call off road blockade which will be imposed on May 15 along Ukhrul-Imphal road and opening of zonal and DI offices which were closed as part of their agitation.
A written assurance signed by Principal Secretary Vineet Joshi and Director of Education N Praveen Singh with consent from Education Minister Th Radheshyam was handed to the representatives, it added.
The association further stated that it will intensify the ongoing cease work strike with different forms of protest if the State Government fails to abide by the assurance.
