Imphal, May 14 2017:
Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) has urged the authority concerned to correct an error in one of the class X books prescribed by BOSEM and several other social science books regarding the fact about hoisting a tri colour flag at Moirang by the INA during the Second World War and also to correct the wrong inscription at Moirang Kangla regarding the event, conveyed a press release issued today by the publicity secretary of KSA.
It clarified that the tri colour flag hoisted by INA Col SA Mallik at Moirang on April 14, 1944, had a springing tiger emblem instead of the chakra present in the Indian tri colour flag though all the books and even the inscription at Moirang Kangla claim the Indian tricolour flag was hoisted for the first time at Moirang.
It further pointed out that 'Revisiting Netaji's role in the freedom struggle of India, INA and Manipur perspective', an article by Dr Priyadarshni M Gangte confirm the tricolour flag hoisted by the INA at Moirang as having a springing tiger emblem.
The same point was also brought to light in the key note address by Professor Chitra Ghosh at the three days National Seminar on 'INA and its contribution to India's independence' organised by the Indian Council of Historical Research, Ministry of HRD, Government of India from February 8 to 10 this year at New Delhi.
The informations contained in the books are false and the authority concerned should take up necessary actions to correct the mistakes and also to correct the inscription written at Moirang Kangla which claim the same, it added.
