Match referee hospitalized after NEROCA player hits him

Imphal, March 22 2014 :
In an unsporting conduct, L Manitombi, a popular player of NEROCA, smashed referee L.Gokulananda while the latter was trying to show card during a match of the 1st Dr..LBhagyachandra Memorial Invitation Football Tourney played between Neroca and SSU Singjamei at THAU Ground, Thangmeiband today.
The tournament is being organised by Imphal West District Football Association.
The unfortunate incident took place after exchanging some harsh words between Manitombi and Gokulananda in the 29th minute of the match.
Gokulananda was trying to show a card to Manitombi for committing a foul play against Sahidur Rahaman of SSU.
When Manitombi hit him on the chest, Gokulananda fell flat on the ground.
Immediately, he was taken for hospitalization but brought back safely later on as there was no major harm done on his body.
The match resumed after halting for 15 minutes by replacing Gokulananda by Th.Kirjit as the match referee.
The entire match was dominated by SSU, which defeated NEROCA by 6-0 goals.
.LGogocha of the triumphant SSU contributed a hat trick winning 3 remarkable goals.
The first goal from him came in the 16th minute, the second in the 65th minute and the third in the 72nd minute.
Team mate Sahidur Rahaman won a penalty kick in the 25th minute and it was converted into goal.
Team mate Imran Khan also contributed 1 goal in the 60th minute.
