General Observer for LS polls arrives

Imphal, March 22 2014 :
General Observer for Lok Sabha election in Manipur Buddha Prakash arrived here on Friday and began monitoring hectic preparations being made for ensuring smooth conduct of the elections.
Prakash, who has been appointed as General Observer for Manipur by the Election Commission of India (ECI) arrived in Imphal in the afternoon.
Shortly after his arrival, Prakash began inspection of the preparations for the ensuing polls in the State.
Prakash called on top officials of the office of Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur and discussed in detail about the preparations being made for smooth conduct of the polls for the two seats in the State, official sources informed.
In the meantime, Executive Observer for Manipur, Shankar Sharma has already started overseeing the election preparedness after he arrived in the State on March 15 .
The Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency which will go to poll on April 9 has 28 constituencies including eight in Thoubal district.
The last date for filing of nomination for the Outer Constituency is tomorrow.
Scrutiny for the nomination papers will take place on March 28 .
Polling for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency has been scheduled for April 19 .
