Monesori murder case: House of accused husband attacked

Imphal, March 22 2014 :
The house of Moirangthem Bikramjit, the husband who has been accused of killing his wife Leimapokpam Ningol Monesori Devi, was attacked by a group of angry locals today.
The incident happened at Thoubal Achouba Bamon Leirak in Thoubal district around 11:30 am.
A group of protesters from the 18-year-old victim wife's native village Thoubal Khunou stormed and attacked the house of the accused and destroyed most of his belongings.
Meanwhile, local residents of Thoubal Achouba Bamon Leirak protested against Saturday's incident wherein the house of Bikramjit was attacked by a mob, calling the intention of the attackers as 'mob justice' .
Monesori reportedly found dead hanging in the bathroom of the husband's house on March 18 .
The joint action committee (JAC) formed in connection with the death has already announced to cal a 24-hour state wide general strike on March 23 demanding the authorities to bring all the culprits to justice.
In protest against the alleged killing of Monesori, local residents of Thoubal Achouba also staged a dharna and later took out a silent protest rally yesterday.
