The 4th national rugby championships began today at Ekleta stadium, Agra.
It was opened by Raj Babbar, MR He appreciated the organization of organizing such event at Agra.
He expressed happiness as large numbers of people came from all over the country to take part in the tournament.
He said the players should play sincerely.
Raj Babbar also released a book entitled "The Game of Rugby" written by S Ibocha, SP Imphal West who is also the President of Amateur Rugby Association, Manipur.
RK Verma, DIG Agra and other police officers, officials of Rugby federation of India also attended the function.
The championship will continue till October 20.Today Manipur in the men's category defeated Delhi 61-0.The Manipur players gave no room for the Delhi players to play.
The scorers were Momocna, Ibomcha, Ibobi, Somokanta, Gagailung Gangmei, Sarfaroj Khan, James Kamei, Herojit.
In the women's category Manipur defeated Maharashtra 29-0.Binapani, Kiran, Gaijillung and others scored for Manipur.
In another match Manipur defeated Vidharbha 10-0.The Vidarbha team decided to resign after they found that they were no match with the Manipur players.
Two men's and women's teams are participating in the tournament.
