The All India Students' Federation has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister urging his to introduce competitive examinations from primary levels in the state in order to maintain the quality of education.
The Federation has stated in the memorandum that the government must initiate common competitive examinations beginning from Class II, to Class V and Class VIII.
The Federation has categorically stated that those students who have been unsuccessful in the examinations should not be promoted to the next class.
Along with the competitive examinations from primary levels, unit tests, weekly tests and monthly tests must also be conducted to bring about a better quality of education, the Federation pointed out.
The memorandum also stated that the government must implement the suggested contents from the current year 2004.The Federation has stated that there is an urgent need to restructure the present education system prevailing in the state.
The government functionaries have not been giving due attention to the primary levels of education, which is the most important foundation period of the student.
It is for this reason that the people have been voicing their concern for quality education in the recent past, it said.
