The 6th Th Birachandra Singh Football Academy State Level Junior Football Championship, 2009 organised by the Birachandra Memorial Sporting Club has commenced today at Taobungkhok Makha Leikai ground.
Sports Minister Nongthombam Biren flagged off the championship today as chief guest.
Altogether 10 different teams are participating the championship.
The championship opened with a match between Eastern Sporting Union (ESU), Wangkhei and Northern Sporting Union (NSU), Awang Potsangbam being the first match of the championship.
ESU won the match after defeating its opponent team NSU in a tough match.
Both team's players played the match with full determination to win the match.
They played the match with full coordination among them.
At various moments, they tried to score goals against each other.
But it was hard for them to dominate over one another and strike goal against each other.
They treid at their best to edged goals against one another and in the same time they defended themselves well against the various goal attempts on their opponent team.
The first 40 minute of the match passed nwithout a single goal by both team.
Spectators began to cheer up when Robinson of NSU striked one goal agianst ESU in the 40th minute of the match.
Players of ESU were left in complete disappointment by the goal of Robinson.
However they recovered soon and tried to equalise the score position.
Their hard effort did not went into vain as they equalise the score position with NSU in the 43rd minute of the match.
The goal was scored by Boy of ESU.
After the goal of Boy no players of both team could scored any goal by the end of the first half.
In the second half players of ESU played the match with a new tactics and tried at their best level to score more goal against NSU.
Players of NSU were surprised by the new tactics of ESU and tried hard to adapt themselves to the new playing tactics and defended themselves with full determination.
But before they could follow up the technique Imran Khan of ESU striked one goal against NSU in the 52nd minute of the match adding one more goal in his team's account.
With hard effort and full coordination among themselves players of NSU followed up the tactics played by the players of ESU and tried their best to equalise the score position.
But it was hard to strike more goal against ESU with their tough defence.
Both teams' players played the match substantially.
But no further goals were scored by both team and the match concluded with ESU winning the match by 2-1 scores.
Regan and Pritam of ESU and M Chitaranjan, Kh Robinson and S Janaki of NSU were issued a yellow card each by the centre referee for their unsporting behaviour during the match.
Sh Suresh, Lanthoiba, Sheityajit and Lokendro Sapam conducted the match as referees.
